    From Groaning to Goodness
Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.  Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. Psalm 5:1-2 I didn't sleep very well last night. And so this morning, I let out a few groans before I tumbled out of bed. We've all had those mornings.   Mornings of groaning. But sometimes our groaning is more than just a desire for more sleep. Sometimes our groans come from a place of deep pain. Physical pain.   Emotional pain. Mental pain. Spiritual

Trusting God's Infinite Wisdom in Suffering
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?  Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.  Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.  Who determined its measurements-- surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?  On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God

Temporary Affliction vs. the Eternal Weight of Glory
For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 Sometimes I need a reality check. For example, it’s easy for me to get all mopey and sulky when things aren’t going the way I want them to.  I feel afflicted in some way, and so I throw a pity party.
  4. Suffering as a Good Soldier of Christ Jesus

Suffering as a Good Soldier of Christ Jesus
Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.  2 Timothy 2:3 No one in their right mind wants to suffer.   Pain and anguish are not valued as a desired state of being.   We don't willingly pursue hardships, difficulties, or misfortunes.   It's really not a laughing matter when a person says, "Gloom, despair, and agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery." Suffering is not what any of us really want. And yet suffering is part of this fallen world.  We all face suffering
  5. Following Jesus' Example of Suffering

    Following Jesus' Example of Suffering
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21 Not that long ago I woke up with a sharp pain in my shoulder and neck.  I must have slept wrong or something.  Turning my head to the right caused the pain to increase.  It was really hard to get going that morning. So what did I do?   Well, at first I whined about it.  Then I took some Ibuprofen Liquid gels.  And then I wondered if I needed to
